Illinois Deadly Motorcycle Crashes
According to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, motorcyclists are nearly 27 times more likely to be killed in the event of a crash. Motorcyclists are more vulnerable to suffering life-threatening injuries due to their level of exposure to unique risks on the road. In Illinois, there were 311,679 reported collisions in 2017. Of those crashes, 1.1% involved motorcyclists. However, motorcycle crashes accounted for 15.4% of fatal collisions and 3.5% of injury crashes.
