Decatur, IL (August 24, 2020) – On Sunday, August 23, two people were killed following a motorcycle accident in Decatur near the intersection of S. Dipper Lane and W. Main Street.
Authorities who responded to the scene found that 58-year-old Edward Clark and his passenger 60-year old Maria Karmatzis were traveling on a motorcycle at the time of the deadly accident. At around 4:30 p.m., the motorcycle reportedly collided with another motor vehicle driven by a 24-year-old man.
According to local reports, Clark was traveling west on Main Street toward Dipper Lane while the other vehicle was traveling east on Main Street. For unknown reasons, the motorcycle was struck head-on by the oncoming vehicle. Both riders of the motorcycle suffered fatal injuries. No other injuries were reported.
At this time, no further details on the crash have been provided. An ongoing investigation is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
