Box-Truck Collisions in Illinois

Crystal Lake, IL - Woman Injured at IL Rte 31 & Three Oaks Rd

Trucking accidents are extremely common in Illinois. Across the country, there are more than 500,000 collisions involving trucks reported each year according to data from the United States Department of Transportation. These collisions result in more than 5,000 deaths annually. As of August 3, 2020, there were already 56 fatal trucking accidents reported statewide in Illinois. In 2014, the Illinois Department of Transportation revealed that there were nearly 11,000 semi-truck collisions reported in the state, accounting for around 10% of fatal collisions that year.

Large semi-trucks can cause catastrophic injuries in the event of a collision with a passenger vehicle. Truck-driver inexperience is a leading cause of deadly commercial vehicle accidents as companies are trying to fill positions due to a shortage of drivers, and this negligence contributes to serious crashes involving 18-wheelers and commercial vehicles. When the negligence of another driver results in a crash, injured victims should consult with an Illinois trucking injury lawyer in order to recover lost compensation by pursuing a personal injury claim.
