Fatal Head-On Collisions in Illinois

Crystal Lake, IL - One Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on Rakow Rd

Head-on crashes are some of the most dangerous and can result in fatal injuries, even at low speeds. These types of accidents involve two vehicles traveling directly toward the other at the time of impact. Head-on collisions are particularly rare, accounting for roughly 2% of reported crashes across the country each year. However, head-on crashes are involved in nearly 10% of deadly car accidents nationwide. According to findings from the Federal Highway Administration, head-on crashes have a nearly 58% fatality rate. These accidents are often caused by reckless or inattentive drivers who veer into oncoming traffic.

Family members are often left reeling after a loved one’s life is tragically cut short due to the negligence of another, and recovering can be a difficult battle for surviving family members who are left to pick up the pieces.
