Chicago, IL – Two Officers Injured in Collision on Rhodes Ave

Chicago, IL (August 29, 2020) – Two Chicago police officers and three civilians sustained injuries following a two-vehicle accident in the Chatham neighborhood on Friday, August 28. 

The crash occurred at around 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of S. Rhodes Avenue and E. 83rd Street. The two officers were reportedly traveling west on 83rd Street in a patrol vehicle when they were hit by a vehicle making a left turn at the 8300 block of S. Rhodes Avenue. 

The two officers reportedly sustained serious head injuries and transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment. The driver and two passengers in the other car were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center for the treatment of sustained injuries. They are believed to be in stable condition. 

The cause of the crash is unknown at this time. An ongoing investigation into the accident is being conducted by the Chicago Police Department.
