Reckless Driving Crashes in Chicago

Chicago, IL - Two Injured in Accident on S Lake Shore Dr

Driving can be incredibly dangerous, especially in a large metropolitan area like Chicago. Many serious car accidents could be prevented if all drivers would just follow the rules of the road and practice safe driving. However, it is a reality that reckless drivers are a constant presence on the road. Recent studies have found that nearly 90% of reported vehicle collisions are caused by human error. Throughout the country, an estimated three out of every ten crashes involve reckless driving. An estimated 13,000 deadly crashes each year are attributable to reckless drivers, accounting for nearly one-third of traffic fatalities reported each year. The most prevalent forms of reckless driving in Illinois include speeding, intoxication, and driver distraction.
