Chicago, IL (August 30, 2020) – A man was fatally struck in a pedestrian accident in the Englewood area on the South Side of Chicago on Thursday, August 27.
Initial reports revealed that the crash occurred at around 3:50 p.m. at the 6900 block of S. Damen Avenue. A 67-year-old man crossing at the intersection of S. Damen Avenue and W. 69th Street was struck by an oncoming vehicle. Authorities reported that the driver involved in the accident attempted to flee the scene.
The injured victim was transported to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Illinois, and was later pronounced dead at the facility. The man’s autopsy revealed on Friday, August 28, that he died due to multiple injuries sustained in the accident. The identity of the deceased victim has not been revealed at this time.
The driver failed to stop at the scene but was later pulled over by officers and taken into custody. No further updates are currently available. An ongoing investigation into the crash is underway.
