Chicago, IL – Luis Galdos Killed in Semi Crash at North Ave & Kimball Ave

Chicago, IL (August 2, 2020) – On Monday, July 27, a man was killed after being hit by a semi-truck in Chicago. The accident reportedly took place in the Humboldt Park area on the city’s West Side. The man was reportedly walking between stopped cars near the intersection of W. North Avenue and N. Kimball Avenue. 

The deceased victim was spotted at the scene of the crash having a conversation with other people near the intersection. An eastbound semi-truck struck the man with the truck’s rear wheels at around 7:30 p.m. Witnesses at the scene stopped the truck driver after he hit the pedestrian. 

The truck driver reportedly exited the cab after the accident. The injured party was pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics. The deceased victim was later identified by the Cook County medical examiner’s office as 41-year-old Luis Galdos. The autopsy confirmed that Galdos was killed due to multiple blunt force injuries resulting from the accident. 

The 39-year-old man driving the semi was sent to St. Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center for toxicology tests. He was cited for failure to stop for a pedestrian. 

An ongoing investigation into the accident is currently in progress.
