Benson, IL (August 2, 2020) – An overnight collision in Woodford County resulted in three death and multiple injuries. On Saturday, August 1, a silver Chevrolet and an ambulance collided at around 2 a.m. The crash occurred east of Benson near the intersection of IL-116 (County Road 1800 North) and County Road 2400 East.
The Chevrolet was reportedly traveling south on County Road 2400 East when it entered the path of an ambulance traveling westbound on IL-116. The ambulance collided with the driver’s side of the Chevrolet. Three people inside the vehicle sustained fatal injuries.
The deceased victims were identified by the Illinois State Police as Morgan Ryder, 20, of Gridley, Illinois, Jared Seggerman, 19, of Minonk, Illinois, and Seth Unruh, 19, of Pattonsburg, Illinois. Ryder was reportedly driving the vehicle at the time of the crash. The driver of the ambulance, 42-year-old Joe Delgado of LaSalle, Illinois, and another passenger in the Chevy, 21-year-old man Blake Hert from Minonk, Illinois, were hospitalized for the treatment of sustained injuries.
There were two passengers in the ambulance at the time of the crash, but no updates on their conditions have been provided. At this time, no further details on the crash have been provided.
An ongoing investigation into the accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
