Avon, IL – Chad Black Killed in UTV Accident on Roberts Rd

Avon, IL (August 14, 2020) – On Wednesday evening, August 12, a utility-terrain vehicle accident outside of Avon resulted in one man being killed and another victim suffering injuries. Initial reports revealed that the accident took place on E. Roberts Road at around 7:27 p.m. 

Multiple emergency response units were called to the scene of the accident, including the Fulton County Sherrif’s Office, Avon Fire Rescue, and GHAS Ambulance. The driver of the vehicle had been ejected in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was later identified as 46-year-old Chad Black from Abingdon, Illinois. 

A passenger on the vehicle, identified as 52-year-old Julie Boys also from Abingdon, sustained injuries and was treated at the scene by responding paramedics. 

Initial reports from the site of the crash revealed that the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Roberts Road when the driver failed to navigate a curve and left the roadway. The driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to overturn. 

At this time, no further updates on the crash have been provided. An ongoing investigation into the accident is being managed by local law enforcement authorities.
