White Co, IL (July 20, 2020) – According to reports from the Illinois State Police (ISP), there were multiple injuries following a car accident. Initial reports revealed that the collision occurred in White County. Emergency response units and local law enforcement officials were called to the scene of the accident early on Saturday morning, July 18. The accident took place at around 2:45 a.m.
The site of the crash was reportedly located on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 64. According to local sources, 28-year-old Alberto Ruiz of Henderson, Illinois was driving a white box truck on I-64 EB when the vehicle left the roadway. The truck proceeded to strike a guardrail in the middle of the highway. Ruiz and five other passengers were transported to a nearby medical facility for the treatment of sustained injuries.
Ruiz was cited for multiple charges, including driving while license suspended, driving an uninsured vehicle, illegal transportation of open alcohol, and several seat belt violations. At this time, local law enforcement officials are investigating the cause of the incident. More details will be made public as the investigation progresses.
