Quincy, IL (July 10, 2020) – An Adam County’s sheriff’s deputy was injured following a collision in Quincy on Thursday morning, July 9. The accident reportedly involved three vehicles and took place at the intersection of I-172 (IL-110) and Columbus Road. The deputy was reportedly in the process of a traffic stop involving a black Camaro when a black van crashed into the back of his vehicle.
The deputy, identified as Javier Lofton, was injured in the crash. According to local sources, Lofton had his emergency lights engaged when he was hit by a Chrysler van driven by Laura Tenhouse, 36 of Camp Point, Illinois. Tenhouse was reportedly traveling south on the highway when she hit the stationary police vehicle.
Both Lofton and Tenhouse were hospitalized for the treatment of sustained injuries after the crash. Deputy Lofton was reportedly at home recovering, while Tenhouse was reported to still be at Blessing Hospital.
