Neoga, IL (July 23, 2020) – A crash in Cumberland County resulted in multiple injuries. The accident took place early on Wednesday morning, July 22. According to reports from the Illinois State Police, the site of the crash was located on IL-121 north of County Road 900 North. Three people reportedly sustained injuries in the crash.
According to local sources, 33-year-old Clinton Howell from Delphos, Ohio was traveling northbound on IL-121 at the time of the accident. At around 8:33 a.m., Howell’s vehicle traveled into the southbound lane of the highway and sideswiped a Toyota Avalon. Howell sustained injuries in the crash. The two occupants of the Toyota, identified as 93-year-old Sidney Gull and 91-year-old Mary Gull of Neoga, were also injured in the collision. All three were hospitalized in a nearby medical facility for treatment.
Howell was cited for multiple charges, including driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured vehicle, improper lane usage, and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. An ongoing investigation into the crash is currently underway.
Our thoughts are with Sidney Gull, Mary Gull, Clinton Howell, and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
