Authorities reported that the accident took place at around 5:22 p.m. and occurred near the intersection of 183rd Street and Center Avenue.

The deceased victim was later identified as 19-year-old Dominique Wood. According to reports from the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, Wood was pronounced at around 9:22 p.m. that night. Two vehicles were reportedly involved in the accident, and the cause of the accident is still unknown.

Fatal T-Bone Accidents in Illinois

Homewood, IL - Dominique Wood Killed at 183rd St & Center Ave

T-bone collisions are some of the most catastrophic types of accidents possible. They are often caused by drivers who run a red light or stop sign while traveling at a high rate of speed. According to crash statistics and data, t-bone accidents account for around 13% of reported car accidents each year, and nearly 18% of fatal crashes involve side impacts. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that an estimated 8,000 people lose their lives in t-bone collisions each year, and fatal t-bone crashes have increased by nearly 20% in the past twenty years.

The grief and devastation of losing a loved one due to another’s negligence are nearly unbearable. Surviving family members often take on damages resulting from the accident, and they may be able to recover lost compensation by pursuing a wrongful death claim with the help of an experienced Illinois car crash attorney. In an Illinois wrongful death claim, a representative of the decedent’s estate — usually a close family member — seeks damages from those at fault for the person’s death to obtain compensation for damages.

At Kent M. Lucaccioni, Ltd., we understand the grief and pain that families experience when a family member is killed.
