Elgin, IL – Sandra Sampey Killed in Hit-&-Run at Chicago St & Villa Ct

Elgin, IL (July 31, 2020) – A woman was killed after being struck by a motor vehicle while riding her bike in Elgin. The accident took place on Tuesday, July 28. The site of the crash was reportedly located at the intersection of E. Chicago Street and Villa Court. 

The deceased victim was later identified as 52-year-old Sandra Sampey of Barlett, Illinois. Sampey was struck by a driver at around 4 p.m. The driver involved in the accident reportedly fled the scene of the crash. Sampey was transported to St. Joseph Hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. 

Initial reports revealed that the same driver was involved in another hit-and-run. Elgin Police Department officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled at a high rate of speed. The driver ultimately left the vehicle and fled on foot. Local law enforcement officials were able to take the at-fault driver into custody. 

No further updates on the accident are currently available. An ongoing investigation into the accident is in progress.
