Chicago, IL – Roberto Alvarez Killed in Forklift Accident on 37th St

Chicago, IL (July 17, 2020) – A man from Brighton Park was killed after a workplace accident. According to local sources, the incident occurred in the Bridgeport area on the South Side of Chicago. The accident took place on Monday afternoon, July 13. The incident reportedly happened at around 3:40 p.m. According to reports from the Chicago Police Department (CPD), the man was struck by a forklift while working at a local business. The site of the accident was located near the 1200 block of West 37th Street.

The deceased victim was later identified by local sources as 57-year-old Roberto Alvarez. The Cook County medical examiner’s office reported that he was pronounced dead nearly an hour later at 4:30 p.m. According to the medical examiner’s office, the incident took place at Midwest Carpet and Flooring at the 1201 block of W. 37th Street.

The autopsy from the incident revealed that Alvarez died due to multiple injuries sustained in the accident. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has reportedly opened an investigation into the accident in assistance with local authorities. No further updates on the crash are currently available.
