Chicago, IL – Pedestrian Killed in Crash at I-90 & 83rd St

Chicago, IL (July 18, 2020) – One person was killed following a hit-and-run accident early on Friday morning, July 17. The collision occurred in the Chicago area on Dan Ryan Expressway (I-90). According to local sources, the incident occurred in the outbound lanes of the highway near 83rd Street. A pedestrian was on the roadway when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle. 

Local authorities reported that the incident took place just past midnight at around 12:04 a.m. The driver involved in the crash fled the scene of the accident and also abandoned his vehicle on the highway. The injured victim had reportedly exited their vehicle for unknown reasons before they were struck. Emergency response units were called to the scene to render aid to the injured victim. They reportedly suffered fatal injuries in the crash and were later pronounced dead. 

The cause of the crash is still unknown. Authorities are currently seeking information on the identity of the driver involved in the accident. An ongoing investigation into the crash is being managed by the Chicago Police Department. As it continues, more information will be made public.
