Blue Mound, IL (July 16, 2020) – A collision in Macon County resulted in the death of a teen girl. The accident occurred late Tuesday evening on July 14. Updated accounts of the accident revealed that a 16-year-old girl died after a car collided with a retaining wall or fixture on the roadway. Law enforcement officials and emergency response units were notified of the accident at around 10:15 p.m. that night. According to local news sources, the site of the crash was reportedly located at the intersection of South Lincoln Memorial Parkway and Elwin Road.
A news release revealed that the 16-year-old girl died due to massive torso and lower extremity trauma. According to authorities, the vehicle contained two other occupants, identified only as a 17-year-old driver and 13-year-old passenger. Both of these remaining occupants were transported by helicopter to out-of-county trauma centers for the treatment of severe injuries. At this time, no updates on their status have been provided.
The name of the deceased victim is currently being withheld by Macon County officials and is pending notification from family members and next of kin. The investigation into the accident is being managed by the Macon County Sheriff’s Office at this time.
