Pedestrian Crashes in Illinois

There were 4,930 pedestrian accidents reported in Illinois in 2012. That year, 139 people died in pedestrian crashes across the state. Another 4,665 pedestrians were injured in crashes that year.

Pedestrians and cyclists have to share the roadways with other motor vehicles. Sadly, too many drivers fail to pay attention to areas like crosswalks, causing serious accidents. In many cases, drivers ignore or refuse to respect when pedestrians have the right of way.
