Salem, IL – UPDATE: Blake Phillips, Mark Huelsmann Injured on US-50

Salem, IL (April 21, 2020) – Sources have revealed that officer Blake Phillips, 28, and Mark Huelsmann, 41, were injured following a crash in the Salem, Illinois area. On Sunday, April 19th, Phillips was traveling in a police vehicle on US-50 EB when he attempted to pass a 1995 white Dodge pickup truck driven by Huelsmann. While attempting to pass, the pickup made a left-turn onto a driveway, and both vehicles collided.

Both parties were transported to nearby medical facilities for treatment. The extent of their injuries wasn’t disclosed by local reports. No further details on the accident have been released at this time.

Local authorities are currently investigating the cause of the crash.
