Homer Glen, IL – 3 Injured in Ambulance Crash on I-355 near 159th St

Homer Glen, IL (February 4, 2020) – Three people were injured, one seriously, following a crash with an ambulance in Homer Glen, Illinois on Tuesday morning, February 4th. The accident occurred at around 6 a.m. near the intersection of I-355 and 159th Street. According to initial reports, a Superior private ambulance traveling on I-355 SB entered the right shoulder, rear-ending a stopped Volkswagen Passat.

The impact caused the ambulance to overturn and the Volkswagen to be pushed into active lanes of traffic, ejecting its driver. Responding paramedics transported the driver of the Volkswagen to a medical facility with severe injuries. The driver and passenger of the ambulance were treated at the scene.

The ambulance wasn’t transporting a patient at the time of the crash. An investigation into the crash is being handled by the Illinois State Police.
