Chicago, IL (February 3, 2020) – Two officers were injured following a rollover collision early Monday morning, February 3rd, on the south side of Chicago. The accident occurred near the intersection of South Yates Boulevard and East 85th Street. Initial reports revealed that the officers were traveling in a marked patrol SUV when they were struck by an oncoming Buick.

The impact caused the SUV to overturn. Both officers were transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment. The 41-year-old driver of the Buick refused medical treatment.

An investigation into the crash is currently in progress.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

Rollover accidents are becoming much more common. Some attribute this rise to the popularity of SUVs and pickup trucks, which are both more likely to overturn in the event of a crash. Unfortunately, these collisions often result in significant injuries.

In just 2010, 7,600 people were killed in rollover collisions. 35 percent of fatal crashes that year involved overturning vehicles. Injured parties should consult with a qualified Illinois car crash attorney to discuss legal compensation.

Everyone deserved to recover after a serious collision. Kent M. Lucaccioni, Ltd. is here to help. Contact our offices at 877-930-2551 to see what we can do for you.
