Salem, IL – 2 Injured After Semi-Truck Leaves Road On I-57

Salem, IL (January 26, 2020) – Officials from the Illinois State Police responded to a collision in Salem, Illinois on Friday night, January 24th. The accident took place on I-57 near the time of 5:40 p.m. Authorities reported that a southbound gray semi-trailer left the roadway, entering the median. 

The semi then over-corrected to the right side of the interstate, crossing the roadway and striking multiple trees. The vehicle came to a rest off the right side of the highway. Both passengers were transported to Salem Township hospital for treatment.

The driver of the semi was charged for improper lane usage. ISP is currently investigating the cause of the accident.
