In Illinois, many serious collisions take place within an intersection. A majority of these crashes take place at intersections without traffic signals or stop signs. However, even when intersections have these safety devices, they are ineffective if drivers fail to obey them.

Nearly 40 percent of all reported crashes take place at an intersection each year. 20 percent of all fatal car accidents are intersection collisions. Victims injured at an intersection may be able to seek compensation for their injuries.
