Volo, IL (December 27, 2019) – An officer was responding to a fatal collision near the intersection of US-12 and Volo Village Road when he was struck by an oncoming driver in Volo, Illinois. The accident took place late into the evening on Monday, December 23rd, at around 7 p.m. The driver has been identified as Chris Miller, 65.

After hitting the officer, Miller attempted to flee the scene in his pickup truck. However, his car became disabled, and officers were able to apprehend him. He was cited for various charges, including felony DUI and leaving the scene of an accident.

The officer suffered severe leg injuries.

Local officials are conducting an investigation into the collision.
