Montgomery Co, IL – 1 Killed, 2 Injured In Fatal Rollover On I-55

Montgomery County, IL (December 23, 2019) – Illinois State Police was at the scene of a deadly crash in Montgomery County, Illinois early Sunday morning, December 22nd. The collision occurred on I-55 at around 5:15 a.m. The crash involved a single vehicle that overturned, resulting in two occupants being injured and another killed. 

Initial reports reveal that a Chery Silverado pickup truck driven by Daniel C. Behrends, 53, of Sullivan, Missouri was traveling on I-55 WB when the vehicle left the roadway, turning over. Behrends and his front passenger, Raven E. Smith, 33, were airlifted to the trauma center in critical condition. The rear passenger, Alvin L. Hunter, 51, was pronounced dead at the scene.

ISP is conducting an investigation into the cause of the accident.
