Car crash claims 1 in Illinois

A fatality occurred in a construction zone in Southside, Chicago, after a 19-year-old driver struck a work site. According to police, the driver of the vehicle was charged with drunk driving. His charges include improper lane usage, excessive speed, failure to carry a driver’s license, driving without insurance and a DUI resulting in an accidental death. Authorities confirmed the19-year-old man had a blood alcohol level of 0.191, which is more than twice the Illinois legal limit.

The accident claimed the life of a man residing in Indiana. He was pronounced dead on the scene, according the coroner’s office. Three passengers in the car suffered injuries. Two were transported to Joh H Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County and the other was taken to Mount Sinai.

The family of the decedent stated that the deceased had emigrated from Mexico to Indiana four year ago. He leaves behind four children and two grandchildren. His family called him a hard-working man.

They will honor his wishes to be buried in Guanajuato, Mexico, where his 91-year-old mother still lives. The driver of the vehicle causing the accident suffered injuries, and he remains in the hospital. According to authorities, he was denied bail.
