Bloomington, IL - Hit-&-Run Injury Crash at Madison St & Oakland Ave

Bloomington, IL (June 27, 2020) - A Bloomington money was charged in connection with a hit-and-run crash that took place Thursday afternoon, June 25. The crash occurred at around 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Madison Street and Oakland Avenue. A blue vehicle reportedly crashed into a black vehicle at the intersection, causing the blue vehicle to overturn. 

The driver of the blue vehicle fled the scene on foot. The 22-year-old woman driving the black vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the crash and taken to Advocate BroMenn Hospital for treatment. The driver that fled was later found leaving an apartment and was identified as Destiney Bates, 27.

Bates was cited for multiple charges, including failure to obey a stop and sign driving under the influence. An ongoing investigation into the crash is underway.
