Chicago, IL - Man Fatally Struck on W Chicago Ave

Chicago, IL (May 24, 2020) - A man was killed in Humboldt Park after being struck by two vehicles. The accident took place at the 3800 block of West Chicago Avenue at around 9 p.m. The man was struck by an initial vehicle then struck by GMC Terrain while he was lying in the roadway.

The 24-year-old woman driving the GMC reportedly failed to see the man lying in the road due to the weather. The victim was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the GMC remained at the scene and was not cited.

An investigation into the crash is being managed by local authorities.

We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.

Deadly Pedestrian Crashes in Chicago

Thumbnail image for street 3Somewhere in the United States, a pedestrian is killed in a crash every 88 minutes. In 2017, pedestrian crashes were involved in 16% of roadway fatalities. In Illinois, the majority of deadly pedestrian accidents took place in Cook County.

The grief and devastation of losing a loved one due to someone else's negligence feels almost unbearable. Surviving family members may be able to recover lost compensation by pursuing a wrongful death claim. In a wrongful death claim, a representative of the decedent's estate - usually a close family member - seeks damages from those at fault for the person's death.

At Kent M. Lucaccioni, Ltd., we understand the grief and pain that families experience when a family member is killed. While no amount of money can bring back a lost family member, a wrongful death lawsuit can help families address the financial difficulties associated with the accident.
