Summit, IL – 3 Injured in Emergency Vehicle Collision on US-40

Summit, IL (April 14, 2020) – Three people were injured in a two-vehicle collision in Summit Township, Illinois on Monday night, April 13th. The collision took place on US-40 near N. 1075th Street at around 8:37 p.m. The driver of a Jeep crossed the centerline on the highway and collided with an emergency vehicle. 

Both drivers involved and a passenger in the emergency vehicle were hospitalized following the accident. The driver of the Jeep, Joshua Bobbitt, 21, of Effingham, Illinois, claimed that he crossed into oncoming traffic due to distraction. Bobbitt was cited for improper lane usage and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

An ongoing investigation into the crash is currently underway.
