Rockford, IL (March 22, 2020) – Two people were killed in an early morning rollover accident in Rockford, Illinois on Monday, March 16th. The accident took place a the 2100 block of 16th Street at around 2:30 a.m. Initial reports revealed that a Chevy Malibu was traveling on the roadway when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the road, struck a tree, and overturned.
One person was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Two others, a 26-year-old Byron man and a 31-year-old Cherry Valley man, were pronounced dead at the scene. The identities of the deceased parties haven’t been released at this time.
The investigation into the crash is being handled by the Rockford Police Department’s traffic reconstruction team.
