Lincoln, IL – UPDATE: Victims Identified in Deadly Plane Crash on I-55

Lincoln, IL (March 4, 2020) – The identities of the three people killed in a small plane accident near Lincoln, Illinois early Tuesday morning, March 3rd. Authorities reported that the crash occurred at around 8:50 a.m. when the plane crashed onto I-55 SB, bursting into flames on impact. Officials reported that the small plane, a single-engine, four-seat Cessna 172, had departed from Central Illinois Regional Airport in Bloomington, Illinois before the accident. 

Authorities have identified the deceased parties as Mitchell Janssen, 22, of Princeville, Illinois, Kevin Chapman, 30, of Urbana, Illinois, and Matthew Hanson, 33, of Pulaski, Wisconsin. The cause of the crash hasn’t been disclosed by local authorities.

An ongoing investigation into the crash is currently in progress. No further updates have been provided.
