Marshall, IL (February 24, 2020) – An accident involving three tractor-trailers in Marshall, Illinois resulted in two hospitalizations on early Sunday morning, February 23rd. The collision occurred on I-70 WB, one mile east of Marshall. The crash occurred when one tractor-trailer, operated by a Guatemalan man without a commercial vehicle license, overturned, losing the vehicles it was towing.

When the first vehicle overturned, two other tractor-trailers were unable to stop in time and collided with the first vehicle. The driver of the first vehicle was cited for improper lane usage and operating a commercial motor vehicle without a CDL. The drivers of the two other vehicles, identified as Ronald Liston, 56, Edwardsport, Indiana and Joseph King, 57, Arcadia, California, were transported to Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Illinois.

Local authorities are conducting an investigation into the cause of the accident.

Our thoughts are with Ronald Liston, Joseph King, and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

Semi-Truck Accidents in Illinois

Semi-truck accidents have the potential to cause life-threatening injuries in the event of a crash. The size and speed of these vehicles can make them devastating for those traveling in passenger vehicles. Each year, 5,000 occupants of passenger-vehicles are killed in semi-truck accidents.

Commercial vehicles are strictly regulated in order to prevent serious accidents. Drivers who are inadequately trained or fail to properly maintain their vehicles are at risk of injuring themselves and others. Injured victims should contact an Illinois trucking injury lawyer to pursue lost compensation.
