Chicago, IL (February 11, 2020) – Two men have been charged following a collision that left one woman dead and four others injured on Saturday night, February 8th, on the west side of Chicago. Officers reportedly attempted to pull over a Toyota Avalon at around 9:47 p.m. when the vehicle fled. Toyota went on to cause a collision at the intersection of Jackson Boulevard and Kedzie Avenue.

The Toyota struck a vehicle carrying a 25-year-old woman with a 28-year-old man and a 5-year-old boy, and all three were taken to Stroger Hospital. The impact caused that vehicle to hit a black Chevy sedan, driven by Mignonne Robinson, 40, who was later pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital. The two men inside of the Avalon were later identified as Patrick Frazier, 22, of Westchester, Illinois and Maxwell Paxton, 20, of Chicago.

Frazier was later charged with one misdemeanor count, and Paxton was cited for three misdemeanor counts and two traffic violations. An investigation into the crash is currently in progress.

Our thoughts are with Mignonne Robinson, the other injured victims, and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

Speeding drivers are often reckless and negligent of the safety of others. When a driver chooses to speed, they are actively putting themselves and others in danger. Sadly, thousands of people are killed each year in high-speed collisions.

In 2018, 9,378 people were killed by speeding drivers. 26 percent of all traffic fatalities in 2017 involved high-speed impacts. In some cases, injured parties can recover lost compensation with the help of a qualified Illinois car crash attorney.
