Carterville, IL (February 28, 2020) – A crash involving three vehicles in Carterville left two people dead on Thursday afternoon, February 27th. The collision occurred on Herrin Road near Cundiff Cemetary at about 1:40 p.m. A Carterville man, 82, and a Royalton woman, 32, were killed in the accident.
According to local sources, the Carterville man crossed the centerline on Herrin Road, colliding with the Royalton woman’s vehicle. A third vehicle then struck her car, which caused it to catch on fire. The identities of the deceased parties haven’t been released at this time.
Illinois State Police are conducting an investigation into the crash. More details will be released as the inquiry continues.
