Bunker Hill, IL - Woman Killed After Hitting Tractor on IL-159

Bunker Hill, IL (February 17, 2020) - A Bunker Hill woman was killed in a deadly collision on Sunday, February 16th. The accident took place on IL-159 near Rust Road. Initial reports revealed that Teresa D. Mullink, 57, was traveling on IL-159 NB at around 6:18 p.m. when she hit a 1984 John Deere skid-steer that had become dislodged from a trailer.

The tractor had fallen off the trailer of a 1985 Dodge Diplomat driven by Dale R. Mansholt, 37, of Dorsey, Illinois. Mullink was unable to avoid hitting the tractor that lay on the northbound lanes of the roadway. She had to be extricated from her vehicle and taken to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

An ongoing investigation into the incident is being handled by the Illinois State Police.

We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family of Teresa D. Mullink at this time.

Illinois Loose Cargo Accidents

Lawfirm-25.jpgProper loading of trucks is crucial to roadway safety. There are regulations governing how truckers need to secure their cargo to ensure that it doesn't come loose during transport. When cargo falls off a trailer or truck, it can leave other drivers unable to avoid a serious accident.

The AAA conducted a study over a three-year period that found there were more than 200,000 crashes caused by loose cargo or roadway debris. There were 500 reported fatalities resulting from these collisions. In some cases, surviving family members may be able to recover lost compensation with the help of an Illinois wrongful death attorney.

Kent M. Lucaccioni, Ltd. understands the difficulty of losing a loved one. No amount of compensation will ever be able to bring back a beloved family member. Contact us today at (312) 425-0401 to see how we can help.
