Rockford, IL – Woman Killed, Child Injured In Semi Crash On I-90

Rockford, IL (January 12, 2020) – A crash Saturday morning, January 11th, near Rockford, Illinois took the life of a woman, 30, and injured a young child. According to Illinois State Police, Taniialle Brown of Flint, Michigan was killed after a FedEx International semi-truck hit her vehicle while it was pulled to the side of the road. The collision took place on I-90 at around 1:20 a.m. 

ISP reported that Brown had pulled over to the side of the roadway after running out of gas. A 4-year-old in the vehicle was transported to a nearby hospital by the Cherry Valley Fire Department. The driver of the semi, Douglass Powell, was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.

No other injuries were reported. ISP officials are managing the investigation into the crash.
