Chicago, IL (January 9, 2020) – A 9-year-old girl was hit by a car on Chicago’s Far South Side near an elementary school in the Roseland area. The crash occurred early Monday morning, January 6th, at the 10900 block of South Wentworth Avenue at around 7:30 a.m. The girl was reportedly walking in a crosswalk with her sister when she was hit by the vehicle.
According to initial reports, the crash took place near the Mildred Lavisso Elementary School. The girl was transported to Roseland Community Hospital for treatment. The driver remained at the scene when authorities arrived.
The driver was cited for striking a pedestrian in a crosswalk. The investigation into the crash is currently in progress.
