Chicago, IL – UPDATE: Man Charged in Gold Coast Crash on Chestnut St

Chicago, IL (January 30, 2020) – A man has been charged for seriously injuring a pedestrian on Tuesday, January 28th, in Gold Coast on the Near North side of Chicago. The accident happened near the time of 2:50 a.m. when an eastbound 2003 Toyota Corolla clipped a westbound 2017 Hyundai at the 1 block of Chestnut Street. The driver of the Corolla, Kenneth Ida, 25, then veered right, hitting a pedestrian.

Ida’s Corolla jumped onto the sidewalk, striking a 50-year-old man. The injured pedestrian was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition. Ida remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

Ida is being accused of drunk driving and striking a pedestrian. An investigation into the crash is being handled by local law enforcement.
