Chicago, IL – Pedestrian Seriously Injured at E Chestnut St

Chicago, IL (January 28, 2020) – Tuesday, January 28th, a pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a car the Gold Coast area of Chicago on the city’s Near North side. The collision occurred around 2:50 a.m. at the 1 block of East Chestnut Street. Local authorities revealed that a man driving a 2003 Toyota Corolla clipped a westbound 2017 Hyundai traveling on East Chestnut Street.

The Toyota veered off the roadway, striking a pedestrian walking on the sidewalk. The pedestrian was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the collision. An investigation into the accident is currently underway.
