Chicago, IL – Correction Officer Injured In Hit-&-Run Crash On S Damen Ave

Chicago, IL (January 16, 2020) – An off-duty correctional officer was injured in a hit-and-run collision in the Englewood area of Chicago on Wednesday, January 15th. The crash took place at the 5500 block of South Damen Avenue near the time of 5:20 a.m. Initial reports revealed that the officer was struck by a vehicle that failed to yield the right-of-way.

The driver sped away after striking the officer, and the vehicle was later found abandoned. The driver had fled the vehicle on foot. The injured officer was transported to Little Company of Mary Hospital for treatment.

The identity of the victim was not released. An ongoing investigation into the crash is currently in progress.
