Chicago, IL (January 28, 2020) - A man has been charged in a crash that injured two Chicago Department Police officers on Thursday, January 23rd. The officers were injured at the 3300 block of North Laramie Avenue on the Northwest side of Chicago at around 11:12 p.m. The driver who struck the officers, Enrique Hernandez-Carreno, 19, was charged for driving under the influence following the collision.

According to local sources, Hernandez-Carreno was driving a 2004 Ford Explorer on North Laramie Avenue when he ran a stop sign. Hernandez-Carreno collided with the squad car that the officers were traveling in. Both were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

An ongoing investigation into the crash is currently in progress.
