Woodstock, IL – Fatal Crash Kills Capron Man At Nelson Rd

Woodstock, IL (December 29, 2019) – A single-vehicle collision in Woodstock, Illinois left a man dead and a woman seriously injured. The collision occurred at the 16700 block of Nelson Road on Friday, December 27th. Emergency crews responded to the scene at around 1:09 p.m. where they found a car that had struck a tree.

The two occupants had to be extricated from the vehicle. The passenger, a 44-year-old Capron man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, Shannon Velmont, 45, was taken by Flight For Life to Javon Bea Hospital in Rockford, Illinois in critical condition.

The roadway was closed due to police activity following the crash. An ongoing investigation into the collisions is currently in progress.
