St Louis, IL (December 2, 2019) – A multi-vehicle collision involving two semi-trucks and an SUV took place early Monday morning, December 2nd. The accident took place in St. Louis, Illinois near the intesrection of I-70 and I-55 at around 5:12 a.m. The roadway was reportedly icy at the time of the crash.
According to initial reports, a semi-truck jackknifed on the I-70 ramp to I-55, blocking the ramp. A second semi-truck struck the vehicle’s trailer, causing it to split in half and spill debris across the roadway. The second semi hit an SUV, and another vehicle slid and hit a guardrail.
The driver of the first semi-truck sustained critical injuries and had to be airlifted to a medical facility. The driver of the second semi was also injured. The driver of the SUV was not injured in the crash.
An investigation into the crash is being conducted by local law enforcement.
