Car crashes involving emergency vehicles are just as common as those involving other types of vehicles. The main difference is that these vehicles are often involved in emergency situations at the time of impact. Emergency vehicles often have the authority to disregard the rules of the road when responding to an emergency, such as running red lights or speeding.

There are around 6,500 collisions involving ambulances each year. 35 percent of these accidents result in injuries to at least one person involved. In some cases, injured parties may be able to recover lost compensation with the help of an Illinois personal injury lawyer.
