Edgewood, IL – 1 Injured In Semi-Truck Accident On I-57

Edgewood, IL (December 20, 2019) – A crash involving a semi-truck near Edgewood, Illinois resulted in one person being hospitalized. The accident happened on Interstate-57 on Monday, December 16th. Authorities were notified of the crash at around 1:30 p.m.

Ruth Lowry, 25, of Sadorus, Illinois, was traveling in a gray 2012 Honda Accord on I-57 when the vehicle lost control on the ice-covered freeway. The Honda struck a guardrail and then collided with a 1999 Kenworth tractor-tractor.

Lowry sustained significant injuries and was transported via ambulance to St. Anthony Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.

No other injuries were reported. An ongoing investigation into the crash is in progress.
