O'Fallon, IL (November 29, 2019) - A woman was transported to a medical facility by helicopter for treatment of critical injuries near O'Fallon, Illinois. The collision took place near the intersection of O'Fallon Troy Rd and N 7 Hills Rd on Sunday, November 24th. The crash was caused by a driver who ran a stop sign at the intersection.

Authorities responded to the scene of the accident in rural St. Claire County at around 5:35 p.m. Initial reports indicated that Gerald N. Gass was flown to Barnes-Jewish Hospital by the Air Evac Life Team.

Cozart sustained injuries in the crash and was taken to Memorial Hospital East. An investigation into the crash is currently underway.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family at this time. We hope for a full recovery.

Stop Sign Collisions in Illinois

Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for PFMstock6-59.jpgIntersections are only effective if drivers follow posted signs. Running a stop sign can result in a side-impact collision or another type of serious accident. A majority of these crashes are caused by distracted motorists who fail to notice a stop sign.

It is reported that nearly 40 percent of fatal collisions take place at stop-sign controlled intersections. There are around 700,000 stop sign crashes each year. In some cases, injured victims may be able to recover lost compensation with the help of an Illinois car crash attorney.
