Intersections are only effective if drivers follow posted signs. Running a stop sign can result in a side-impact collision or another type of serious accident. A majority of these crashes are caused by distracted motorists who fail to notice a stop sign.

It is reported that nearly 40 percent of fatal collisions take place at stop-sign controlled intersections. There are around 700,000 stop sign crashes each year. In some cases, injured victims may be able to recover lost compensation with the help of an Illinois car crash attorney.
