Chicago, IL (November 18, 2019) – A woman was seriously injured in an accident involving a patrol car in Chicago today.

Reports indicated that a 34-year-old woman was standing outside the patrol car speaking to police officers just before the incident occurred on East 71st Street.  The accident happened at approximately 6:05 pm on November 13th.

As the patrol car drove began to drive away, the womans leg somehow became lodged underneath the passenger-side, right front tire of the vehicle.  The woman’s right leg was broken in the incident.

She was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition because of her broken leg.

No one else was reportedly injured in the accident. Local authorities are currently investigating the incident.

Our thoughts are with the injured woman and her family at this time.

Chicago Pedestrian Accidents

The roadway is meant to be shared with an array of different travelers, including pedestrians. Sadly, pedestrians often experience the brunt of accidents involving a motor vehicle. These collisions often involve fatal injuries due to the lack of protections afforded to pedestrian travelers.

Major urban areas often experience a high rate of pedestrian accidents. In the city of Chicago, there were over 3,000 reported crashes involving pedestrians in 2009. Victims injured in a pedestrian crash may be eligible to recover lost compensation by calling a trained Chicago car crash attorney.
