Aurora, IL (November 23, 2019) – A police officer was injured on Thursday, November 22nd, in a westside suburb of Aurora, Illinois. The accident occurred at the intersection of Indian Trl. and Church Rd. at around 8:30 p.m. A suspect has been taken into custody in connection to the crash.
Local authorities arrested Julian Chavez, 23, under charges of driving under the influence and failure to yield. Chavez was driving a black Mercedes when he struck the front of an eastbound squad car on Church Rd. Both Chavez and the injured officer were taken to nearby medical facilities for treatment following the crash.
After being released from the hospital, Chavez was taken into custody by local authorities. An investigation into the cause of the crash is currently underway.
