Teen killed in car accident while mowing lawn

Car accidents in Illinois often involve those who are sharing the road. However, these incidents can happen under any circumstances and affect people who are simply minding their own business, taking care of other tasks nowhere near the road, or even in their homes. An out-of-control vehicle, a crash due to DWI, or weather-related circumstances can send a vehicle careening onto sidewalks, into buildings, and into other areas where vehicles and accidents are unlikely and unexpected. Given the lack of protection pedestrians possess, there is a greater risk for serious injury and death after such an automobile accident, as can be seen in one recent incident

There, a crash involving a 73-year-old driver who left the road in his 2009 Mercedes-Benz led to the death of a 17-year-old male. The accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. as the teen was pushing a lawnmower. The teen was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead slightly more than two hours after the accident. The investigation into the wreck is ongoing, and the elderly man has yet to be charged with any violations.

There is an inherent risk with going out on the road in a vehicle or even walking along the street. One thing that is not expected, though, is to be hit by a car when performing everyday tasks that should be completely safe. Regrettably, though, these types of accidents happen and can lead to the loss of a loved one in a fatal car accident. With any accident, there can be expenses that accrue in the aftermath of one of these wrecks. A hospital stay, rehabilitation, funeral costs, and lost wages can all take a significant toll. That does not even mention the emotional trauma from having to face serious injuries or the loss of a loved one.

Although it is yet to be known if there were any extenuating circumstances in the accident discussed above, that does not change what the young man's family is going to go through in coming to grips with this accident. Contacting a legal professional could help them consider the viability of a legal case in pursuit of compensation for their damages.
